The Austin Packers girls soccer team was on the road Monday in Mankato to take on West Scarlets, the first place team in the Big 9 Conference by a half-game over Owatonna.  The Packers were able to force overtime, but the Scarlets broke through with three goals in extra session in a 4-1 win.

Austin took a 1-0 lead in the 21st minute when Hope Dudycha scored her team leading sixth goal of the season on a free kick.  The lead lasted until the Scarlets scored in the 74th minute to tie the game at 1-1.

West netted three goals in overtime to pull away for the win, and they saw four different players score, including Elise Rykhus, Emma Doell, Katie Roberts and Alania Spaude.

The Packers are now 4-5 in the Big 9 and 5-8 overall on the season.  They’ll be back in action tonight at Art Hass Stadium versus Northfield, with kickoff at 7:00 p.m.
