Iowa man injured in semi accident involving high winds in Mower County Tuesday afternoon

An Iowa man was injured in a one-vehicle accident on Highway 56 in Mower County Tuesday afternoon when the semi tractor trailer he was driving was blown over by high winds.

The Minnesota State Patrol reported that a 2021 Kenworth semi tractor trailer being driven by 62-year old Todd J. Wolter of Denver, Iowa was southbound on Highway 56 at approximately 2:48 p.m. Tuesday afternoon when the vehicle was blown over on the driver’s side by a large gust of wind at 205th St. in Windom Township.

Wolter sustained non-life threatening injuries in the accident, and he was transported to Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Austin for treatment.  The State Patrol indicated that Wolter was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident, and the Mower County Sheriff’s Office, Fire Departments from Adams and Rose Creek, plus Mayo Ambulance all assisted the State Patrol at the accident scene Tuesday afternoon.
