Lyle/Pacelli Athletics baseball team blanks Houston 4-0 Tuesday
After having three straight games postponed by rain, the Lyle/Pacelli Athletics baseball team was back into action at Marcusen Park Tuesday versus Houston in a Southeast Conference and Section 1A matchup, and senior right hander Isaac Nelsen was superb on the mound as he fired a complete-game, three-hit shutout in a 4-0 Athletics win.
The Athletics scored two runs in the third, one in the fourth and one in the sixth to lead 4-0, and those would be all the runs Nelsen would need as he gave up no runs on three hits, striking out 12 and walking none in seven innings of work.
Catcher Logyn Brooks helped to lead the way at the plate for LP by going 2 for 4 with a pair of doubles and a run scored, Hunter VaDeer was 1 for 2 with a pair of RBI’s, No. 9 hitter Grady Meyer was 2 for 3 with two runs knocked in, leadoff hitter Landon Meyer was 1 for 3 with a run scored, Isaac Small went 1 for 2 for the game with a pair of runs scored, and Hunter Wollenburg was 1 for 3 in the shutout win. For the game, the Athletics totaled four runs, eight hits, no errors and seven men left on base, while the Hurricanes totaled no runs on three hits, no errors and three men left on base.
With the win, the Athletics are now 6-0 on the season, and the club will be back in action Thursday in Spring Valley versus the Bulldogs of GMLOK, with first pitch in the Southeast Conference matchup at 4:30 p.m.
