Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms softball team blanks Medford 9-0 Tuesday

The Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms softball team was back at home Tuesday to kick off a regular season-ending two game homestand versus Medford in the Gopher Conference, and Blossoms pitcher Haven Carlson fired a complete game one-hit shutout, while third baseman Shawntee Snyder had yet another huge day at the plate by going 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, three RBI’s and two runs scored in a 9-0 Blossoms win.

Blooming Prairie scored two runs in the bottom of the first, one in the second and one in the third for a 4-0 lead before cracking the game wide open with a five-run bottom of the fourth.  The Blossoms rapped out 11 hits for the game as besides Snyder’s huge day at the plate, shortstop Macy Lembke went 2 for 3 out of the leadoff spot with an RBI and a run scored, second baseman Rachel Winzenburg went 2 for 4 with two RBI’s and two runs scored, centerfielder Lauren Schammel was 1 for 4 with a run scored, catcher Layla Lembke went 1 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored, first baseman Lexi Steckelberg was 1 for 2 with a pair of runs knocked in, and pitcher Haven Carlson was 1 for 2 with a double, and she struck out three and walked one in her complete game, one-hit shutout gem.

With the win, Blooming Prairie moves back above .500 at 9-8, and the Blossoms will host Waterville-Elysian-Morristown in their regular season finale Thursday, with first pitch at 4:30 p.m.
