Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms softball team falls to Randolph 2-0 Tuesday

The Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms softball team, unbeaten and ranked No. 3 in the state in the latest Class A poll faced their sternest test of the season Tuesday as they traveled to Randolph to take on the unbeaten Rockets, the No. 3 ranked team in the state in Class AA, consolation title winner in Class A last season, runner-up in 2022 and State Class A champion in 2021, and it was the Rockets coming out on top in the Gopher Conference matchup 2-0.

The Rockets pushed across single runs in the first and sixth innings, and although the Blossoms outhit Randolph in the game 6 to 4, they stranded five runners on base and could not bring anyone across home plate.  Junior shortstop Catelyn Bartlett picked up two of BP’s six hits in the game in three officials trips to the plate, while Macy Lembke, Rachel Winzenburg, Lily Schammel and Anna Haberman rapped out the other hits in the game for the Blossoms.  Lembke pitched well in the circle for the Blossoms but was tagged with the hard-luck loss as she gave up the two Randolph runs, one earned, on four hits, striking out three and walking four.

With the loss, the Blossoms are now 7-1 on the season, and the club returns to action next Tuesday versus Triton in a Gopher Conference matchup, with first pitch at 4:30 p.m. that afternoon.
