Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms girls basketball routs USC 52-21

After a nice win at home against Maple River, the second-place team in the West Division of the Gopher Conference Thursday evening, the Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms girls’ basketball team went on the road to Wells Friday night to take on United South Central in the second game of a back-to-back, and it was the Blossoms’ defense holding the Rebels to only six first-half points in a 52-21 win.

Blooming Prairie led 41-6 at the half, and they had eight different players break into the scoring column, led by senior guard Bobbie Bruns, who tallied 18 points, Shawntee Snyder added eight points, Macy Lembke swished the only 3-pointer of the game for the Blossoms on her way to seven points, Lauren Schammel and Addison Doocy each scored six points, Haven Carlson added four points, Anna Pauly tallied two points and Melaine Winzenburg scored one point for the Blossoms, who won their seventh in their last eight games to move to 8-2 in the East Division of the Gopher Conference, and 12-6 overall on the season.

Blooming Prairie will be back in action in Kenyon Monday evening versus East Division rival Kenyon/Wanamingo, with the varsity tip-off scheduled for 7:15.
