Austin Packers volleyball team storms back from 0-2 deficit to down Winona 3-2 Tuesday evening
The Austin Packers volleyball team was looking to get back on the winning track versus the Winona Winhawks at Packer Gym Tuesday evening, and in a match that saw senior Kristen Neilsen surpass 1,000 digs for her career, the Packers staged a spirited comeback from two sets down to win 19-25, 12-25, 25-18, 25-23 and 15-12.
Not only did Neilsen pile up 41 digs in the five-set marathon to lead the squad in that category, she also served up five aces, which was also tops for the team Tuesday night, plus she added one kill and two set assists for good measure.  Isabella Bolster led Austin offensively with nine kills, plus she also added seven digs and three blocks, Quinn Osgood tallied eight kills, two ace serves, four set assists and 15 digs Tuesday night, Aggie McKichan totaled seven kills, six digs and a team-high four blocks, Kathryn Crouch put up a stat line of three kills, two ace serves, one set assist and 16 digs Tuesday evening, Ava Denzer tallied three kills, eight digs defensively, and two blocks, Katara Fischer chipped in three kills, one set assist, one dig and one block, Ajiem Agwa totaled two kills, one dig, and one block, Alia Retterath put up 13 set assists in the win Tuesday night to go along with three kills, two ace serves and eight digs, and Haleigh Holman led Austin in set assists for the match with 16, plus she also tallied 15 digs and one kill.
With the win, the Packers move back to the .500 mark at 12-12 overall, and they are now 3-6 in the Big 9 Conference.  Austin will play their regular-season road finale Thursday night in Mankato versus the East Cougars, with the varsity match getting started at 7:15 p.m.  The Packers will then close out the regular season with a home match versus Rochester Century next Tuesday, October 17th.
