Austin Packers girls swimming and diving team falls to Rochester Mayo 93-85 Tuesday night

The Austin Packers girls swimming and diving team played host to the Rochester Mayo Spartans in their home regular-season finale at Bud Higgins Pool Tuesday evening, and it was the Spartans coming away with a win in the Big 9 Conference meet by a score of 93-85.

High finishers for the Packers Tuesday night included the team’s 200 medley relay team of Gracie Greenman, Addison Tobak, Abbie Boysen and Madison Tauger, who finished second with a time of 2:06.67, junior Anna Kossman was second for Austin in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:13.86, and Greenman was first in the 200 individual medley Tuesday night with a time of 2:21.94.

Abbie Boysen was second for the Packers in the 50 freestyle with a time of 26.79 and, as they have the vast majority of the season, Alayna Kennedy and Reese Norton went 1-2 for Austin in 1-meter diving Tuesday evening, with Kennedy totaling 244.20 points, and Norton finishing second with 233.95 points.  Leah Pischke took third for the Packers in the 100 freestyle with a time of 1:02.98, and Gracie Greenman swam to a second-place finish in the 500 freestyle with a final time of 5:34.87, only .18 of a second behind first-place Elise Weingarten of Mayo, who finished at 5:34.69.

Austin swept the top three spots in the 100 backstroke Tuesday evening as Abbie Boysen was first with a time of 1:09.75, Anna Kossman was second with a time of 1:13.09, and junior Emma Czarnota was third for the Packers with a final time of 1:19.87.  Austin also piled up points in the 100 breaststroke, as Addison Tobak took first with a time of 1:23.45, Jaycie Pollak took second with a time of 1:26.32, and 7th grader Scarlett Davis was third with a final time of 1:30.53, and the Packers also swept the top three spots in the 400 freestyle relay, as the team of Gracie Greenman, Leah Pischke, Anna Kossman and Abbie Boysen were first with a time of 4:06.40, the team of Madison Tauger, Halle Burke, Eva Taylor and Jaycie Pollak were second with a final time of 4:33.07, and the team of Delaney Ferguson, Gracelyn Johnson-Merten, Madellane Hicks and McKenna Donovan were third with a time of 4:55.73.

Austin will close out the regular season next Tuesday, October 17th with a Big 9 Conference meet at Winona, before competing at the Big 9 Conference meet on Friday, October 27th and Saturday, October 28th.
