Austin Packers girls’ swimming and diving team falls on the road to Owatonna 95-88
The Austin Packers girls’ swimming and diving team was on the road Tuesday evening at Owatonna in a Big 9 Conference dual meet, and the host Huskies were able to come away with a 95-88 win.
For Austin, the Packers’ 200 medley relay team of Madelynn Murley, Ingrid Dolan-Peterson, Molly Garry and Molly Sheehan took first with a time of 2:03.42. Sydney Tobak was third in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:57.70, Molly Sheehan was first in the 50 freestyle with a time of 27.54 and Hanna Thompson was second in the diving competition with a score of 158.60.
Molly Garry was first for Austin in the 100 butterfly with a final time of 1:09.70, and Ingrid Dolan-Peterson and Rose Garry were second and third, respectivley in the 100 freestyle with times of 1:04.34 and 1:06.79. Murley was second for the Packers in the 500 freestyle with a final time of 5:56.98 and the 200 freestyle relay team of Garry, Sidney Tobak, Lucy Lagervall and Molly Sheehan were second with a time of 1:56.01. Austin went 1-2 in the 100 backstroke as Garry was first, finishing at 1:12.07 and Dolan-Peterson was second with a time of 1:15.36.
Mackenzie Carter and Kaylee Gustafson were second and third for the Packers in the 100 breaststroke with times of 1:27.24 and 1:33.79, respectivley, and Austin also claimed first and second in the 400 freestyle relay. The team of Murley, Lagervall, Garry and Dolan-Peterson were first with a time of 4:25.16, while the team of Ellen Ekins, Alanya Jovaag, Sydney Tobak and Mackenzie Carter were second at 4:40.65.
Austin is back in action Thursday at Bud Higgins Pool at Ellis Middle School against Albert Lea in another Big 9 Conference dual meet. The action is set to start at 6:00 p.m.
