Austin Packers girls basketball team falls to Stewartville 78-35 Saturday evening

It was Saturday night basketball at Ove Berven Gym for the Austin Packers girls basketball team as they played host to defending Section 1AAA champion and 14th ranked Stewartville in the second game of a tough back-to-back, and in a rematch of the section title game from last season, it was the Tigers taking a 44-22 lead at the half on their way to a 78-35.

The Packers were led in scoring by Quinn Osgood, who drained all three of Austin’s 3-pointers in the game on her way to 11 points, Ajiem Agwa tallied nine points, Makenzie Brede scored four points, Nora Sand chipped in three points, and Atee Obang, Gracie Ahrndt, Marissa Shute and Addison Walsh all scored two points apiece.  The Tigers had three players in double figures in the win, led by Audrey Shindelar, who drained three 3-pointers on her way to leading all scorers with 17 points.

Austin is now 1-4 on the season, and the Packers are back in action in Albert Lea Tuesday evening versus the Tigers, with the varsity tip-off at 7:30 p.m. that evening.
