Rochester Mayo forward Nancy Soro scored 16 of her 23 points in the second half and forward Anna Miller, an All-Big 9 Conference selection from 2018-2019 scored 11 of her 17 points in the second stanza as the Spartans handed the Austin Packers their first loss of the season 68-61 at Ove Berven Gym Tuesday evening.

Mayo led 29-28 at the half and opened the second half on an 18-8 run to open up a 47-36 lead.  Austin was able to cut the Spartan lead to five after a time out, but Mayo was able to withstand the Packer rally and later pushed their lead to as large as 12 points on their way to the win.

Senior Kyra Walters led the way for the Packers with 17 points, 10 rebounds and three steals, while Hope Dudycha added 13 points and Colie Justice chipped in 11 points for Austin, who were only 7 of 16  from the free throw line and were held to six three-point field goals for the entire game.

The Packers are now 4-1 in the Big 9 Conference and 6-1 overall on the season.  Austin is back in action on the road in Mankato Thursday night against the West Scarlets, with the varsity tip-off at 7:30 p.m.
