Austin Packers boys swimming and diving team competes in Big 9 Meet Friday and Saturday

The Austin Packers boys swimming and diving team competed in the Big 9 Conference meet, with the diving portion of the meet at Northfield Friday, and it was the Packers taking fifth place with 166 points.  Rochester Century took first in the team competition with 431 points, followed by Northfield in second with 401.5 points, and Rochester Mayo third with 365 points.

High finishers for Austin for the meet included the squad’s 200 Medley Relay team of Brent Dahl, Hunter Peters, Lucas Meyers and Zach Evenson, who took fifth with a time of 1:48.37, Dahl took second in the 200 Individual Medley with a time of 1:58.05, and Evenson was sixth in the 50 Freestyle Saturday with a time of 22.62 seconds.

Riley Ferguson finished seventh in the 1-meter diving competition Friday with a final score of 228.70 points, Evenson was eighth in the 100 Freestyle with a time of 49.91 seconds, the swimming portion at the Rochester Rec Center Saturday, and Dahl lowered his #2 AHS All-time 200 IM time as he ran away with the 500 Freestyle title with a time of 4:59.86, and Austin’s 200 Freestyle Relay team of Zach Evenson, Lucas Meyers, Hunter Peters and Brent Dahl finished sixth Saturday with a time of 1:34.14.

Next up for the Packers will be the Section 1A Swimming and Diving Meet, which will be held at the Blanchard Aquatic Center at Century Middle School in Lakeville Wednesday, February 21st through Friday, February 23rd.
