Austin Packers boys hockey team falls to Chaska 9-0 Saturday

The Austin Packers boys hockey team was looking to get back on the winning track Saturday as they played host to the Chaska Hawks in a non-conference matchup at Riverside Arena, but Hawks goaltender Tyler Nesheim turning aside all 16 shots he faced, and the Hawks scored three goals in each period on their way to a 9-0 win.

Seven different Hawks tallied at least one goal in the win, led by Tyler Schmieg and Ryder Hermann, who scored two apiece, and the Hawks totaled 55 shots on net, with Austin netminders Daran Plunkett making 39 saves in facing 45 of those shots, and Zane Thoma turning away seven of the 10 shots he faced in the contest.  Austin was whistled for four penalites for eight minutes, while Chaska was called for three penalties for six minutes, and neither squad tallied a power play goal in the game.
