Austin Packers boys basketball routs Albert Lea 89-51 Tuesday evening

It was the I-90 rivalry renewed at Packer Gym Tuesday evening as the Austin Packers boys basketball team played host to Albert Lea in their home opener for the 2023-2024 season, and Dakota Retterath led four Packers in double figures in scoring with 19 points as the club drained 11 3-pointers on their way to an 89-51 win.

The Packers led 43-25 at the half, and besides his 19 points, Retterath pulled in four rebounds as well, Peyton Ransom tallied 17 points and pulled in seven rebounds, Jackson Clausman totaled 13 points and a team-high eight rebounds, Isaac Osgood was also in double figures in scoring with 13 points, including one 3-pointer, plus he pulled down four rebounds, Cole Hebrink scored eight points Tuesday evening, including two 3-pointers, plus he also totaled two rebounds, J’dan Stevens drilled two 3’s for six points, Xzayveun Severin tallied five points and one rebound, Mikah Christopherson also scored five points and pulled in a rebound, and Banyaan Omot totaled three points and two rebounds in the win.

Austin is now 1-1 on the young season and 1-1 in the Big 9 Conference, and the Packers return to action Friday night in Owatonna versus the Huskies, with the varsity tip-off at 7:30 p.m. that evening.
