Section football playoff matchups set for next Tuesday

Section football playoff matchups for area teams for next Tuesday have been scheduled, and in Section 1AAAAA, the Austin Packers, the No. 6 seed and coming off a 45-6 win over Albert Lea in their regular-season finale will travel to No. 3 seed Northfield for the section quarterfinals, and you’ll hear the game on AM 1480 KAUS, with the Austin Packers pre-game show on the air at 6:30 p.m., and kickoff at 7:00 p.m.  You can also listen online worldwide on our webpage next Tuesday night at myaustinminnesota.com, and on the I Heart Radio and Radio.com apps.  The winner of the Austin/Northfield matchup will advance to play at No. 2 seed Owatonna on Saturday, October 30th.  Owatonna and top-seeded Rochester Mayo received byes into the semi-finals, as the Spartans will host either Rochester Century or John Marshall on Saturday, October 30th.  The Panthers and Rockets will meet at Century High School next Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m.

In Section 1 9-Man, the Lyle/Pacelli Athletics, who fell to LeRoy/Ostrander in their regular-season finale in Lyle Wednesday evening 64-12 will be the No. 8 seed and will travel to top-seeded Lanesboro next Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m.  The Southland Rebels, who were edged late in their game with Mabel-Canton 21-20 Wednesday night will be the fourth seed, and they will host No. 5 seed Spring Grove, who the Rebels defeated in Week 5 46-14.  In the other half of the Section 1 9-man bracket, the Grand Meadow Superlarks, who have won seven in a row after a 48-24 win over Kingsland Wednesday night are the No. 2 seed, and they will entertain seventh-seeded Houston, while No. 3 seed LeRoy/Ostrander, who have won three in a row will host  No. 6 seed Mabel Canton in LeRoy next Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m.

In Section 2AA, the Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms, unbeaten on the season at 8-0 after a 48-7 rout of Medford Wednesday night and No. 1 in the last Class AA poll will be the top seed, and they will meet the Tigers again next Tuesday night in Blooming Prairie at 7:00 p.m.  St. Clair/Loyola earned the No. 4 seed in Section 2AA, and they will host fifth-seeded NRHEG in St. Clair next Tuesday evening.  Blue Earth Area will be the No. 3 seed in Section 2AA, and they will entertain No. 6 Waterville-Elyisan-Morristown next Tuesday night, while second-seeded Maple Lake will host No. 7 seed LeSueur-Henderson.
