Lyle/Pacelli boys’ basketball routs United Christian Academy 107-39 in Section 1A playoffs Wednesday evening

The Lyle/Pacelli Athletics boys’ basketball team reached a pair of milestones in a lopsided win over United Christian Academy of Bloomington in the Section 1A boys’ basketball tournament in Lyle Wednesday evening.

Sophomore guard Buay Koak tallied 24 points to go over 1,000 alread for his career, plus he added 11 rebounds, Jed Nelson rolled up 25 points and 10 Athletics scored in the game to propel No. 2 seed Lyle/Pacelli past the No. 15 seed Thunder 107-39.

The 107 points are a new program record for most points scored in a game, and besides Koak and Nelson, Sam Nelsen tallied 14 points, Zach Bollingberg, Cole Walter and Jake Truckenmiller all scored 10 points and Trey Anderson, Jadyn Lewis, Landon Meyer and Axel Aguilar all scored four points apiece for Lyle/Pacelli, who moved to 17-2 overall on the season with the win.

The Athletics will be back in action in the Section 1A quarterfinals Friday night in Lyle against seventh-seeded Randolph, who defeated No. 10 seed LeRoy/Ostrander in the second round Tuesday 65-45.  Tip-off will be at 7:00 p.m.
