Grand Meadow downs Blooming Prairie in Section 1A boys’ basketball tournament 69-50

The Grand Meadow Superlarks, the No. 6 seed in the Section 1A boys’ basketball tournament played host to No. 11 seed Blooming Prairie in a second round matchup Tuesday evening, and Colt Landers drilled six of the Superlark’s 13 3-pointers in the game on his way to 29 points as the Larks downed the Blossoms 69-50.

Grand Meadow led from start to finish Tuesday evening as an early 9-0 gave the Larks a 12-4 lead, and they pushed their lead to as large as 14 points in the first half on their way to a 32-23 advantage at the half.  Grand Meadow opened the second half with a 13-2 run to push their lead to 20 at that point at 45-25, only to see Blooming Prairie rally back with a 9-0 run of their own to trim the lead to 45-34.  After a timeout, the Superlarks put the game away with a 13-1 run to take a 63-39 lead on their way to the win.

Besides Landers’ 29 points, Evan Oehlke added 12 points, 10 of those in the first half, Zach Hoffman drilled four 3-pointers in the second half on his way to 12 points, Roman Warmka chipped in seven points, Blake Ludeman tallied four points and Mason Geier added three points.  Blooming Prairie had three players in double figures, led by Colin Jordinson with 16 points, Drew Kittleson added 11 points and Alex Miller tallied 10 points for the Blossoms, who finish the season with a record of 6-12.

With the win, Grand Meadow moves to 10-6 overall on the season, and the Superlarks now await the winner of the Hayfield-Schaeffer Academy matchup tonight in Hayfield Friday night at the high seed at 7 p.m.  The 14th seeded Lions downed No. 19 Glenville/Emmons 72-32 in a first-round game Tuesday night to advance to take on the No. 3 seeded Vikings this evening.
