Austin Packers boys’ track and field team hosts Big 9 quadrangular Tuesday

The Austin Packers boys’ track and field team played host to a Big 9 Conference quadrangular involving Mankato East, Mankato West and Northfield on a beautiful Tuesday afternoon at the Wescott Athletic Complex, and it was the East Cougars taking home first place with 90.5 team points, followed by the West Scarlets with 77.5, Northfield in third with 60.5 and Austin fourth with 43.5.

High finishers for Austin included A’triel Terry taking third in the 200 meter dash with a time of 24.39 seconds, Blake Petrik was third in the 400 meter dash with a time of 54.14 seconds, Alex Petrik took second in the 800 meter run with a final time of 2:06.12 and Brenan Winkels was third in the 110 high hurdles with a time of 18.14.

Austin’s 4 x 100 meter relay team of Jordan Salinas, Joseph Walker, Kaden Murley and A’triel Terry was third Tuesday with a time of 46.67 seconds, the 4 x 400 relay team of Murley, Nicholas Asmus, Alex Petrik and Blake Petrik was second with a final time of 3:39.88 and the 4 x 800 team took first with a time of 8:33.65.

In other results, Andrew Sayles was fourth in the shot put for the Packers with an effort of 38′ 10″, A’triel Terry tied for second in the high jump as he cleared 5′ 8″ along with William Acheson of Northfield, Matthew Grush was second in the pole vault for Austin as he cleared 10′ 6″ and Joseph Walker was first in the long jump with a jump of 20′ 2 1/2″.

Austin returns to action Tuesday, May 18th in a Big 9 quadrangular at Paul Giel Field in Winona hosted by the Winhawks, and it will also involve Red Wing and Rochester Century, with the action set to start at 4:30 p.m. that afternoon.
