Austin Packers boys tennis team downs Fairmont 5-2 Monday

The Austin Packers boys tennis team was back on the road Monday for a non-conference matchup with the Fairmont Cardinals, and in a match that saw the Packers jump out to an early 3-1 lead, Austin came out victorious in two of three 3-set matches that were still in play to win by a score of 5-2.

Winning for the Packers Monday were Cole Hebrink at No. 1 singles, as he swept Dominic Lund-May of Fairmont in straight sets 6-1, 6-2, Nathan Danielson was a winner in straight sets at No. 2 singles as he downed Anthony Stegge of the Cardinals 6-0, 6-3, and Lucas Rust outdueled Sebastian Castro of Fairmont in three sets, 6-3, 4-6 and 6-1.  In the other three-set win for Austin in the match, Samuel Mata and Gavin Matyas fell in the first set to Simone Castro and Lillian Ortega of the Cardinals 6-4, but they rallied to take the next two sets and the match 6-3 and 6-4, and Timothy Perez and Marcos Castro for the Packers swept Reed Wagner and Matthew Malo of Fairmont in straight sets 7-5, 6-0.

Austin returns to action today (Tuesday) at the Wescott Athletic Complex versus Rochester Century in the Big 9 Conference, with the action slated to start at 4:45 p.m.
