Austin Packers boys’ swimming and diving falls to Rochester Mayo Thursday evening 94-76
The Austin Packers boys’ swimming and diving team took on Big 9 foe Rochester Mayo in a virtual meet at Bud Higgins Pool Thursday evening, and it was the Spartans earning the win 94-76.
In the 200 medley relay, the team of Winston Walkup, Jackson Barry, Joseph Hilkin and Riley Haugen took second for Austin with a time of 1:53.75, and Adam Pike was third for the Packers in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:14.89. Walkup was second for Austin in the 50 freestyle with a final time of 23.86, and in 1-meter diving, the Packers finished 1-2 with Riley Ferguson taking first with a final score of 174 points, and teammate Michael Fuentes was second with a score of 69.76.
Joseph Hilkin took secondfor Austin in 100 butterfly with a time of 1:01.86, and in the 100 freestyle, the Packers were second and third with Riley Haugen taking second with a time of 57.16, and Kyle Mayer was third with a final time of 1:01.25. Thomas Asmus took third in the 500 freestyle for Austin with a time of 6:24.37, and the Packers’ 200 freestyle relay team of Kenny Cabeen, Riley Haugen, Matthew Grush and Adam Pike were second with a final time of 1:43.56. Winston Walkup finished second in the 100 backstroke for Austin, finishing with a time of 59.45, and the Packers went 1-2 in the 400 freestyle relay with the team of Kenny Cabeen, Adam Pike, Joseph Hilkin and Winston Walkup taking first with a time of 3:49.96, and the team of Thomas Asmus, Joseph Garry, Zachary Evenson and Kyle Mayer was second with a time of 4:22.93.
Austin is now off until next Thursday when they will host Mankato West in a Big 9 dual meet at Bud Higgins Pool, with the action set to start that evening at 6:00 p.m.
