Local authorities investigating early Saturday morning report of a fight and a gunshot fired at a northeast Austin motel

Local authorities are investigating after reporting to a call concerning a fight and a gunshot being fired at a northeast Austin motel early Saturday morning.

Officers from the Austin Police Department and the Mower County Sheriff’s Office responded to the report of a fight called in by management at the Rodeway Inn in northeast Austin at 4:37 a.m. Sunday morning.  Chief of Police Dave McKichan reported that no active fight was taking place when officers arrived, but several persons were interviewed and witnesses alleged that they had heard a gunshot.  McKichan stated that a single .40 caliber shell casing was found in the motel’s parking lot, and a torn mask and some hair were also located.  Several warrants were executed on rooms at the motel, and no firearm was found.  Chief McKichan indicated that no victims of property damage were found as a result of the shot being fired, and he added that no suspect description was given to officers.

McKichan went on to state that 19-year old Annastasia Chandee of Austin was taken into custody on a 5th degree controlled substance crime after 17 suspected THC vaping cartridges were found in her vehicle at the scene.
