Southeast Austin residence damaged in early Thursday morning fire
An uninhabited duplex in southeast Austin was damaged in a fire early Thursday morning.
Austin Fire Chief Jim McCoy stated in a report that firefighters were dispatched at approximately 4:10 a.m. Thursday morning concerning a fire at a residence at 104 3rd Avenue SE. When firefighters arrived on the scene, Chief McCoy stated that fire and smoke were visible coming from the southeast corner of the structure, which was determined to be an uninhabited duplex that had no power or gas service provided to it.
Chief McCoy noted that Fire Departments from Lyle and Brownsdale were called in for mutual aid, and he added that the State Fire Marshal’s Office responded to the scene Thursday to assist in determining the cause of the fire. McCoy indicated in the report that the structure sustained $25,000 in damages, and its contents sustained $5,000 in damages.
No injuries were reported.
