Two South Dakota residents were injured in a one-vehicle, rollover-type accident on Interstate 90 in Freeborn County late Saturday afternoon.
The Minnesota State Patrol reported that a 2008 Ford F-150 pickup being driven by 57-year old Michael Darin Zacher of Rapid City, South Dakota was traveling westbound on Interstate 90 at approximately 5:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon when he lost control of the vehicle on the snow and ice-covered road, went off the road and rolled at milepost 168 in Hayward Township.
Both Zacher and a passenger in his vehicle, 55-year old Renee Elizabeth Zacher, also of Rapid City, South Dakota both sustained non-life threatening injuries in the accident, and both were transported to Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Austin for treatment. The State Patrol indicated that both parties involved in the accident were wearing their seatbelts, and Fire Departments from Hayward and Albert Lea, plus Mayo Ambulance all assisted the State Patrol at the accident scene late Saturday afternoon.
