Austin Schools Superintendent David Krenz released a statement from the district after Governor Tim Walz announced further restrictions Wednesday afternoon to combat the spread of the COVID-19 virus in the state…

“Today, Governor Walz announced a series of actions to protect Minnesotans during the Covid- 19 pandemic. One of these actions was to extend the school closure period to students and enact a period of distance learning from 3/30 to at least 5/4.

APS staff have been working diligently to provide this type of learning and feel confident that students and families will be supported during this time. The District distance learning plan can be found at https://www.austin.k12.mn.us/pages/covid-19.aspx, and schools will continue to communicate specifics.

The Governor also extended the responsibility of public schools to feed school aged children and care for school aged children of emergency workers during this time. The District will continue to use the system we have already created and enacted to meet this need. Remember to take good care of yourselves and your families.”
