Southland downs Lyle/Pacelli 56-8 in District 9 Southeast football action Friday night

The Lyle/Pacelli Athletics played host to the Southland Rebels in a District 9 Southeast 9-man football matchup Friday evening, and a big, fast and physical Rebel squad scored 26 points off of four Athletics turnovers on their way to a 56-8 win.

Southland quarterback Harrison Hannah scored on touchdown runs of 16, 80, 37 and 2 yards, and he also fired a 20-yard touchdown pass to sophomore tight end Jack Bruggeman in the first quarter to give the Rebels a 29-0 lead at the end of the quarter.  Running back Brendan Kennedy added touchdown runs of 1, 21 and 26 yards to give Southland a 56-0 lead in the third quarter before Lyle/Pacelli’s Trey Anderson scored the lone points of the game for the Athletics with a 21-yard touchdown run, and quarterback Jake Truckenmiller’s 2-point conversion run accounted for the 56-8 final.

With the win, the Rebels evened their record at 2-2, and they are back in action next Friday night at Spring Grove.  With the loss, Lyle/Pacelli is now 0-3 on the season, and the Athletics will travel to Houston for a matchup with the Hurricanes.
