Blooming Prairie man sentenced to prison time for Nevada murder in February 2020

A Blooming Prairie man who shot and killed another man in Nevada in February of 2020 has been sentenced to prison time.  

65-year old Mark Allen Doocy was convicted and sentenced to a minimum of 10 years, and a maximum of 25 years in prison, with credit for 1,507 days already served after pleading guilty in Clark County District Court in Nevada to a charge of 2nd degree murder for the death of 40-year-old Dennis Hopkins.

Las Vegas, Nevada authorities reported that Doocy shot Hopkins to death on February 28th, 2020, during an altercation at a truck stop. Doocy was taken into custody in Rice County, Minnesota on an outstanding warrant on March 4th, 2020.  Doocy was then extradited back to Nevada and a murder indictment was filed against him on June 5th, 2020.
