Ruby’s Pantry to be held Thursday, November 19th at Mower County Fairgrounds

The next Ruby’s Pantry in Austin for November is coming up this Thursday, the 19th, at the Mower County Fairgrounds.

Bob Rosel, Media Coordinator for Ruby’s Pantry in Austin stated in a news release that it will be a drive-by distribution process starting at 5:00 p.m. Thursday.  Guests enter the fairgrounds off of 4th Ave SW, and Rosel stated that they are asking their guests to have a clean space in their vehicle with empty containers (boxes or tubs) for volunteers to place the food items in as they drive up to each distribution station.

Guests will stay in their cars, and Rosel stated that they are allowing no more than two bundles per vehicle and will adjust that number if they start to run low on items to one bundle per vehicle.  The donation for each bundle is still $20 exact cash.

Rosel indicated in the news release that they will continue the drive-by distribution method thru the winter or as long as the pandemic remains an issue.  He stated that the idea is to do as much of the distribution outside as possible to speed the process and make it as safe as possible for both volunteers and guests.

With the increase in cases in the county and the changing weather, Rosel stated that they are not sure of the number of volunteers who will show up, so as usual, they are asking for your help in reminding people of their need for volunteers.
