Oregon man sentenced to prison time on felony criminal sexual conduct charge in Mower County District Court

An Oregon man who pleaded guilty to a felony criminal sexual conduct charge in Mower County District Court stemming from an incident that took place in Austin on November 11th, 2022 has been sentenced to prison time and restitution. 

23-year-old Spencer Glenn Merchant was convicted and sentenced Thursday to 57 months, or four years and nine months in prison, plus nearly $16,000 in restitution for a felony charge of 3rd degree criminal sexual conduct, penetration, uses coercion. Merchant first pleaded guilty to the charge on July 22nd of this year, and a felony charge for 5th degree criminal sexual conduct, penetration, non-consensual in the case against Merchant was dismissed with his guilty plea.
