One person is dead and another is facing criminal charges after a one-vehicle accident Thursday night in Freeborn County.

The Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office reported that a 2002 Ford Taurus was southbound on 795th Avenue by the Glenville pool when it went off the road and struck a tree just past 7:30 p.m. Thursday evening. Two people were thrown from the vehicle, including 17-year old James Joseph Amarosa III, of Albert Lea, who was killed and 15-year old Cameron Michael Cunningham, of Twin Lakes, who suffered life threatening injuries and was flown out by Mayo One Helicopter.

Two other passengers, 19-year old Shelby Luv Watkins, of Austin, and 17-year old Chase Anthony Garza, of Albert Lea, suffered minor injuries.

The driver, 18-year old Dominik Nikko Boots-Ringoen, of Albert Lea, has been arrested and charged with two counts of criminal vehicular homicide and driving after revocation.

The accident remains under investigation.

The Minnesota State Patrol, Albert Lea Police Department, Glenville Fire Department, and Mayo Ambulance assisted the Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office at the accident scene.
