One man dead after early Saturday morning shooting in northeast Austin

The Austin Police Department and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension are investigating after an early Saturday morning shooting at a northeast Austin residence claimed the life of a man and injured others.

Austin Police received a 911 call at 1:10 a.m. Saturday morning from a residence in the 100 block of 12th St. NE regarding a shooting with multiple victims.  Officers responded and found one adult male gunshot victim, and Austin Police Captain Todd Clennon stated in a news release that lifesaving measures were performed, but the victim succumbed to the injury and was pronounced dead at the scene.  Clennon went on to state that officers further learned of others who had been injured during the shooting, and Austin Police then contacted the Minnesota BCA who sent agents and crime scene personnel to the scene to assist.

Captain Clennon reported that based on evidence and witness interviews, authorities believe the shooting was a targeted incident, and that there is no ongoing threat to public safety.  The male who died in the incident will be identified once a preliminary autopsy is performed and formal identification and family notification have taken place.  Clennon stated that the investigation into the incident is active and ongoing.
