Names of victims in fatal accident involving an Amish buggy and SUV in Fillmore County Monday morning released
The victims of a fatal accident involving an Amish buggy and an SUV in Fillmore County Monday morning have been identified.
The Fillmore County Sheriff’s Office reported that 35-year old Sarah Peterson of Spring Valley, was driving a 2005 Toyota 4Runner south on County Road 1 at approximately 8:25 a.m. Monday morning when she collided with a southbound 2-wheel horse-drawn buggy south of the intersection with County road 102.
The Sheriff’s Office stated that there were four child passengers in the buggy at the time of the crash. 7-year old Wilma Miller and 11-year old Irma Miller were both killed in the accident, while 9-year old Alan Miller and 13-year old Rose Miller were both transported to Mayo Clinic/St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester for treatment of unknown injuries. The Sheriff’s Office indicated that all four children were siblings and residents of rural Stewartville.
No arrests have been made stemming from the incident, and the Minnesota State Patrol is assisting in the reconstruction of how the accident occurred. An investigation is continuing with additional assistance from the Mower County Sheriff’s Office.
The Spring Valley Fire Department, Spring Valley Ambulance, Chatfield Ambulance, and Mayo Clinic Ambulance Service also all responded to the accident scene Monday morning.
