Minnesota House Republicans looking to move stalled bills forward

Minnesota House Republicans say they’ll try this week to get several stalled bills moving:  state tax relief for businesses receiving federal COVID loans, tax breaks for workers getting COVID unemployment benefits, and two requests from Governor Tim Walz — public safety funding for the George Floyd officer trials, and 100-plus million dollars for summer school programs.  KAUS News spoke with State District 27A Representative Peggy Bennett, a Republican from Albert Lea who stated that House Republicans are trying to bring the bills up for a vote in the House as single issue bills, before they would be lumped into large omnibus bills as the session progresses…

The main stalemate appears to be over public safety funding.  A group of House Democrats are demanding that police reforms be part of the package.  They say lack of accountability is what caused the death of George Floyd.
