Meeting to be held August 22nd concerning proposed whitewater park to be built on the Cedar River in Austin

A meeting to learn more about a proposed whitewater park to be constructed on the Cedar River in Austin will be hosted by Austin Whitewater on the Cedar at the Austin Public Library on Tuesday, August 22nd.  Nathan Smit, a member of the group spoke with KAUS and stated that the results of a recent feasibility study for the project will be discussed…

Saville Lord, Manager of the Spam Museum and another member of the group stated to KAUS that the potential designs of the park will be unveiled at the meeting…

Smit went on to talk about where the concept for the project first came from…

The meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. on August 22nd.  The Austin City Council recently approved the feasibility study for the project, which looked closely at altering the dam at 4th St. SE to include rock and other formations to create the park.
