Mapleton woman sentenced to prison time on felony drug possession charge in Mower County District Court

A Mapleton woman who found to be transporting approximately 29 grams of methamphetamine into the city of Austin after a traffic stop on Interstate 90 on October 6th, 2021 has been sentenced to prison time in Mower County District Court  

55-year old Rhonda Sue Nelson, who is currently incarcerated at the Minnesota Correctional Facility in Shakopee was convicted and sentenced Thursday to 84 months, or seven years in prison for a felony charge of 2nd degree drugs, possession of 25 grams or more of cocaine or methamphetamine.  Nelson pleaded guilty to the charge on February 27th of this year, and a felony charge for 1st degree drugs, sale of 17 grams or more of cocaine or methamphetamine in the case against Nelson was dismissed with her guilty plea.
