Lyle/Pacelli boys basketball rallies in second half to nip Southland 65-61
The Lyle/Pacelli Athletics boys’ basketball team kicked off a four-game homestand in Lyle Monday evening against Southland in a game between the top two teams in the Southeast Conferences’ West Division, and it was the Athletics outscoring the Rebels 32-20 in the second half to rally back from an eight-point halftime deficit to win their sixth in a row 65-61.
Senior guard Buay Koak led three Athletics in double figures in scoring with 22 points, plus he added six rebounds, four assists, a steal and a blocked shot, Jake Truckenmiller tallied 17 points, three rebounds, a team-high five assists and a steal, Mac Nelson chipped in 14 points, five rebounds, two assists and a steal, Trey Anderson added seven points, a team-high eight rebounds, two steals and one assist, David Christianson tallied four points and Hunter Bauer scored one point for the Athletics, who raised their record to 12-2 overall with the win and 8-0 in the conference. Southland is now 7-2 in conference play and 8-3 overall with the loss.
Lyle/Pacelli is right back into action this evening (Tuesday) versus Lanesboro, with the varsity tip-off in Lyle at 7:15 p.m. Southland also returns to action this evening as they kick off a three-game homestand against Mabel/Canton in Adams at 7:15 p.m.
