Lyle/Pacelli Athletics boys basketball team routs Houston 84-32 Saturday for 3-0 start

The Lyle/Pacelli Athletics boys basketball team took to the road for the first time early in the 2022-2023 season Saturday afternoon as they traveled to Houston for a Southeast Conference matchup with the Hurricanes, and it was the Athletics, who are averaging 90 points per game thus far this season lighting up the scoreboard again thanks in large part to senior guard Jake Truckenmiller, who wracked up 30 points, two rebounds, five assists, five steals and one blocked shot as LP cruised to an 84-32 win.

The Athletics jumped out to a 10-0 lead and were never headed the rest of the way, and a 25-8 first-half run helped LP to a 53-23 halftime lead.  A 20-6 run to start the second half gave the Athletics a 70-29 lead on their way to the win, and besides Truckenmiller’s 30 points, three other players were also in double figures, led by Landon Meyer, who tallied 16 points, three rebounds, five assists and two steals, Buay Koak put up 11 points, four rebounds, three assists, three steals and a team-high two blocked shots, Hunter Bauer scored 10 points, plus he pulled in four boards and added one assist and one steal, Mac Nelson tallied six points, four rebounds, four assists, one steal and one blocked shot, Othello Stone also scored six points, and Trey Anderson and Mitchell Johnson each added two points in the win.

With the win, Lyle/Pacelli is 3-0 on the young season, and the Athletics are back in action in Lyle Tuesday night versus Lanesboro in a Southeast Conference matchup, with the varsity tip-off at 7:15 p.m.
