A key state House committee approved a $2.5 billion bonding bill Tuesday that would pay for state public works projects. State District 27B Representative Jeanne Poppe, DFL’er from Austin spoke with KAUS and stated that the bill addresses key needs around the state, including $19 million for renovation work at the City of Austin’s wastewater treatment facility…

Poppe went on to state that she’s hopeful a compromise can be agreed to between House Democrats, Senate Republicans and Governor Tim Walz….

Earlier in the session, Governor Walz had proposed a bonding bill of roughly $2 billion, and the bill could face an uphill battle with Senate Republicans, who are proposing less than a billion in spending. And House Minority Leader Kurt Daudt again this week reiterated that House Republicans won’t let a bonding bill move forward unless Governor Tim Walz relinquishes his emergency COVID authority.
