Hayfield boys’ basketball cruises past NRHEG Saturday 66-41

Ethan Slaathaug poured in 22 points, plus he also added eight rebounds and three steals to help lead the Hayfield Vikings to a 66-41 win Saturday against NRHEG in a Gopher Conference matchup in New Richland.

Besides Slaathaug’s big game, Luke Dudycha added 21 points and nine rebounds, while Patrick Towey scored nine points and Isaac Matti added seven for the Vikings, who outscored NRHEG 29-16 in the first half and raised their record to 6-2 in the Gopher Conference and 12-3 overall.

Hayfield will be back in action on Tuesday night in Medford, with the varsity tip-off at 7:15 p.m.
