Farmers give U.S. House lawmakers several suggestions of what to include in 2023 Farm Bill

Minnesota Congresswoman Angie Craig and U.S. House Ag Subcommittee Chair Cheri Bustos of Illinois got an earful from farmers Monday in Northfield about what should be in the 2023 Farm Bill.

Brad Hovel from Cannon Falls says funding for the U.S.D.A.’s foreign market programs has been stagnant for 20 years.

“The farmer-members of the Minnesota Soybean Growers Association highly encourage the doubling, or more, of the funding for the Foreign Market Development and Market Access Program, to keep the American farmers competitive in the world market,” Hovel said.

Hoevel told the lawmakers funding should also be maintained for the Agricultural Trade Promotion program.
