Blooming Prairie girls’ basketball advances to 1A semi-finals with 45-34 win over Lanesboro Saturday evening

The Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms girls’ basketball team, the No. 2 seed in the Section 1A girls’ basketball tournament played host to No. 10 seed Lanesboro in the section quarterfinals Saturday evening in Blooming Prairie, and the Blossoms were able hold off a determined effort from the Burros to win 45-34.

The Blossoms led 19-16 at the half and guard Bobbie Bruns helped to lead BP to the win by scoring 14 of her 16 points in the game in the second half, including going 8 for 8 down the stretch from the free throw line.  Senior all-state selection Megan Oswald battled foul trouble the entire game, but she did tally 11 points, all in the first half to run her career total  to 1,551, a new school record that had been held by Taylor Hagen.  Allison Krohnberg and Anna Pauly each added seven points and Emily Miller tallied four points in the win for Blooming Prairie, who moved to 17-3 on the season with the win.

The Blossoms are back in action Tuesday night at Rochester John Marshall High School versus No. 3 seed Kingsland in the semi-finals at 7:00 p.m., and you’ll hear the game on AM 1480 KAUS, also on our webpage at myaustinminnesota.com, and on the I Heart Radio and Radio.com apps.
