Bill to be introduced that would see 100% soil healthy farming in Minnesota by 2040

State District 20B Representative Todd Lippert, a DFL’er from Northfield will be introducing a bill this week in the House Ag Committee that would see 100% soil healthy farming in the state by the year 2040.  Lippert stated that the bill will focus on incentives for soil health building practices for farmers…

Lippert went on to state that soil health building practices will help hold water back for a longer period of time, which will help alleviate flooding around the state….

Lippert stated that he thinks there is increasing support amongst farm groups and legislators on both sides of the aisle for soil health building practices, and he added that Governor Tim Walz has prioritized funding for soil health practices in his budget from 2022-2024.
