Authorities investigating after 18-year old woman found dead near her home in Austin

Authorities are investigating after an 18-year old woman was found dead Saturday morning near her home in Austin.

Chief of Police Dave McKichan reported that officers responded at approximately 8:46 a.m. Saturday morning to the 800 block of 8th Avenue Southwest for a report of an 18-year old female that had been found lying on the sidewalk deceased next to her house.  McKichan stated that officers and detectives were brought to the scene to investigate the possible cause of the incident and while on the scene, a male subject was located on the roof of the residence. The male subject initially attempted to flee from authorities, but Chief McKichan stated that he was brought into custody on an unrelated probation violation.   

McKichan went on to state that the cause of death is unknown at this time, and he added that there is no danger or threat to the public.  The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and the Minnesota BCA is assisting the Austin Police Department in that investigation.
