Austin Salvation Army Foodshelf collects over 31,000 lbs. of food during March Foodshare Month

March was Foodshare Month in the state of Minnesota, and locally, the foodshelf at the Salvation Army of Austin took in 31,438 pounds of food donations for the month, compared to 29,126 pounds in 2013, and total monetary donations to the foodshelf for March of 2024 totaled $15,087, compared to $3,525 in 2023.  

Stacy Wisemore, Office Manager/Volunteer Coordinator for the Salvation Army Foodshelf in Austin stated that this year for the month of March, the foodshelf helped 704 households with 20,878 pounds of food, and she added that the donations brought in from the 14 locations that held organized food drives in March helped to bring in the 2,300 additional pounds of food that were collected this year than in 2023.
