The Austin Police Department is investigating after an unoccupied stolen vehicle was discovered in southwest Austin Saturday afternoon.

Chief Dave McKichan reported that officers located the vehicle, a Chevy Cruze, which had been taken from the City of Owatonna in the 100 block of 5th Street SW at approximately 3:22 p.m. Saturday afternoon.   The vehicle had been stolen earlier in the day and had originally been tracked to a location near the 100 block of 4th St. NW.  McKichan stated that the vehicle was not occupied at the time and there are no known suspects.  He added that several items were believed to have been taken from the vehicle prior to its recovery, including a black northface bag valued at $100, a brown Michael Kors purse valued at $200, a gray Apple IPad in a portfolio case attached to a keyboard valued at $100-$200, a wallet containing $60 in cash, visa gift card valued at $25-$50, a target gift card, an AAA card and the victim’s MN driver’s license, and a Chromebook issued from Owatonna high school.
