Austin Packers girls’ track and field team 6th at Cougar Relays Thursday

The Austin Packers girls’ track and field team took part in the Cougar Relays Thursday hosted by Mankato East, and Belle Plaine took first place in the eight-team field with a team total of 206.  The host Cougars were close behind in second at 202, followed by Waseca with 151 team points, St. Peter was fourth with a total of 143, Jordan was fifth with 131 points, followed by the Packers in sixth with 103 team points, then came Faribault in seventh with 87 points and New Ulm was eighth with 69 points.

High finishers for Austin included the squad’s 4 x 800 meter relay team, which was fourth with a time of 10:53.49, the 800 sprint medley relay team also took fourth with a time of 2:04.48 and the 1600 meter medley relay team took third for the Packers with a time of 4:50.56.

Austin returns to action on Thursday, May 6th in a Big 9 quadrangular at Mankato West with the host Scarlets, Northfield and Rochester Mayo, with the action set to start at 4:45 p.m.
