Austin Packers girls golf team 7th in 16-team invitational in Byron Monday
The Austin Packers girls golf team was back on the links Monday for a 16-team invitational hosted by the Byron Bears at Somerby Golf Club, and it was the Packers taking 7th place with a team total of 378. A strong Lake City squad took the team competition going away with a total of 325, 20 strokes clear of the host Bears in second at 345. Pine Island/Zumbrota Mazeppa finished third with a score of 353, Owatonna was fourth with a team total of 367, and Red Wing rounded out the top five with a score of 368.
Five freshmen were in action for Austin Monday, with Ailani Thiravong shooting the low score for the Packers Monday with an 83, Reagan Harty carded a 97, Sydney Lewis finished with a round of 98, Lucy Annis finished with a 100, and Gracie Greenman carded a round of 119.
A busy first half of the week for the Packers continues today (Tuesday) as Austin travels to the Owatonna Country Club for a Big 9 Conference triangular with the host Huskies and Albert Lea, with the teams scheduled to tee off at 2:00 p.m.
