Brandon Swenson tallied two goals and three assists for five points, Gage Schmidt added two goals, and seven different Mankato West players scored at least one goal as the Scarlets skated by the Austin Packers 9-0 in Big 9 boys’ hockey action at Riverside Arena Tuesday evening.

Mankato West led 5-0 at the end of two periods and broke the game wide open with four third period goals.  The Scarlets peppered Austin netminder Bray Klapperick with 76 shots, and he made 67 saves.  West goaltender Caleb Cross turned away all 11 Packer shots he faced for the shutout win.

Austin falls to 0-9 in the Big 9 Conference and 0-10 overall with the loss, and the Packers return to action Thursday night at the Rochester Rec Center for a matchup with the John Marshall Rockets, with face-off 7:15 p.m.
