Austin Packers boys golf team second at Albert Lea triangular Tuesday

The Austin Packers boys golf team continued a busy week of four meets in five days Tuesday as they traveled to Wedgewood Cove Golf Course in Albert Lea for a Big 9 Conference triangular with the host Tigers and Owatonna, and it was the Packers firing a season-best score of 318, which was good for second place behind host Albert Lea who finished with a 292 on their home course.  Owatonna finished with a team total of 330 for third place.

Freshman Isaac Anderson continued a string of strong performances for Austin Tuesday as he fired a personal-best of 74, sophomore Cale Tupy was right behind with a personal best of 75, junior Izaac Erickson carded an 84, junior Owen O’Rourke finished with a round of 85, freshman Elijah Krueger came in with an 86, and sophomore Carter Hovelsrud shot a round of 88.

The Packers will be back in action at the Owatonna Country Club Thursday for a nine-team invitational that will include the host Huskies, Mankato East, Northfield, Prior Lake, Rochester Century, Rochester John Marshall, St. Peter and Winona, with the teams scheduled to tee off at 1 p.m.
