Austin man sentenced to prison time on felony assault charge in Mower County District Court

An Austin man who shot another man in the face with a flare gun during a fight in front of a residence on the 800 block of 13th Avenue Southeast in Austin on May 20th, 2020, causing a large open wound on the man’s chin has been sentenced to prison time in Mower County District Court.  

26-year old David Michael Mattson-Fuller was sentenced Tuesday to 45 months in prison for a felony charge of 2nd degree assault with a deadly weapon, substantial bodily harm.  Mattson-Fuller first pleaded guilty to the charge on October 1st, 2020, and he was convicted on October 21st of the same year.

Additional felony charges for 1st degree assault, great bodily harm, possession of ammunition or any firearm, conviction or adjudicated delinquent for a crime of violence, and an additional felony charge of 2nd degree assault with a dangerous weapon in the case against Mattson-Fuller were dismissed with his guilty plea.
