Austin man pleads not guilty to long list of charges in Mower County District Court

An Austin man who was taken into custody after a search warrant conducted by authorities at a restaurant on West Oakland Avenue in Austin on January 13th turned up cocaine and suspected fentanyl has pleaded not guilty to a litany of charges in Mower County District Court.  

Chief of Police Dave McKichan stated in a news release that 39-year old Terry Izeal Heggs was placed in the Mower County jail after a search warrant executed at 3401 West Oakland Avenue, which included the restaurant Wing Bazaar turned up over 50 grams of cocaine on the premises, along with suspected fentanyl.  

McKichan went on to state that a protected party from Heggs in a DANCO matter, or a domestic abuse no-contact order was also found at the location in proximity to Heggs, who pleaded not guilty Thursday to felony charges of 1st degree drugs, 17 grams or more of cocaine in possession with the intent to sell, 1st degree drugs, possession of 50 or more grams of cocaine, 2nd degree drugs, sale of 10 grams or more of a narcotic other than heroin within a 90-day period, and 3rd degree drugs, possess 10 or more grams of a narcotic drug other than heroin, plus Heggs was also charged with a gross misdemeanor for a charge of violation of a domestic abuse, no-contact order, and also with a misdemeanor for fleeing a peace officer by means other than a motor vehicle.  A jury trial in the case for Heggs in Mower County District Court has been scheduled for July 10th, and a hearing for Heggs in Mower County District Court has been scheduled for the same day on four gross misdemeanor charges for violating a domestic abuse, no-contact order stemming from an incident that took place in Austin five days later on January 18th.  Heggs has pleaded not guilty to all four charges.

Heggs is also scheduled for a jury trial July 10th for two felony charges of 3rd degree drugs, sale of a narcotic stemming from an incident that took place in Austin on June 14th, 2021. Heggs pleaded not guilty to both charges, and he is also scheduled for hearings that same day in Mower County District on a felony charge of 3rd degree sales of a narcotic drug stemming from an incident that took place in Austin on July 21st, 2021.  Heggs has also pleaded not guilty to that charge, and he is also scheduled for a hearing that day for felony charges of drive-by shooting towards a person in an occupied motor vehicle or building, and for being a violent felon in possession of a firearm stemming from an incident where Heggs allegedly fired gunshots at another vehicle in Austin on August 20th, 2021. 

Heggs has pleaded not guilty to both charges, and he is also slated for a hearing on July 10th on a felony charge of predatory offender knowingly commits an act or fails to fulfill a registration requirement stemming from incidents that occurred from July 21st to August 20th of 2021.  Heggs pleaded not guilty to the charge, and a pre-trial hearing for Heggs on the charge has been scheduled for July 21st, with a jury trial scheduled for July 31st.
